COVID-19 UPDATE

We have taken enhanced health and safety measures—for you, our attendees and staff. You must follow all posted instructions while visiting First Friday. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting First Friday you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Help keep each other healthy.

To help keep everyone safe and stop the spread of germs First Friday will have guidelines in place during the event day.

  • Signage will be placed around traveled areas of event regarding safe distancing, COVID-19 is highly contagious, recommendations on good hygiene and other ways to reduce the risk of COVID-19. if you are not feeling well please stay home.

  • First Friday staff/volunteers will disinfect all tables throughout the event and provide hand washing stations throughout the event.


Requirements & General Information

Individual month applications are now available for 2023. Please make sure that when submitting your application, you select all months you wish to attend.

  • Images: total of four images – 3 art; 1 of your booth – all may be used for promotional purposes.

  • Artist to provide their own 10×10 Tent – prefer white.

  • Artist to provide their own set up/displays for booth, including weights for tent, lights, power/extension cords, grid, tables, chairs, etc.

  • Artist responsible for his/her own booth liability insurance.

  • FFF to provide space only. Power is limited and artists are encouraged to bring solar or battery operated power supply for their booth space. If an artist requires power they need to request prior to event. First come first serve basis on limited offering of battery pack options with an additional rental fee of $35 for use of battery pack

  • Space assignments will be made final on day of event by artist coordinator

CHECK-IN: 

Participants will be given a specific load-in time after their fees are paid. Footprint will be shut down to cars at 4 pm. Any participant arriving after that will have to park elsewhere and load materials in from outside.

EVENT: 

The event begins at 5pm and runs until 11pm. All artists must be in place and ready to exhibit at 5pm.

TEAR-DOWN: 

The event ends at 11pm. You are required to stay open until 11pm. No early teardowns allowed or you will not be invited back. Roads will not be opened for vehicles until all pedestrian traffic has been cleared and you will be notified of that by the Event Manager.

JURY PROCESS: 
The jury consists of three confidential jurors – artists, photographers, gallery owners and curators are chosen. They will review all art and fine crafts to determine who shall be accepted into the festival. Criteria include mastery of medium, creativity, originality, overall effect of the artwork. The jury’s decisions are final. There will be a wait list of artists each month. Acceptance notification will be e-mailed. You will ONLY receive further communication after filling out the application if you are accepted into the event.

EVENT PUBLICITY:
Publicity for the event includes citywide newspaper, periodic radio, and TV coverage, electronic media, social media, and eblasts. The event is presented by the First Friday Foundation in partnership with the city of Las Vegas, neighboring Las Vegas arts district galleries, shops, businesses and key sponsors. Our sponsors vary each month.

 

Booth Fees:

$100 for 10×10 space

  • The word “artist” refers to both fine artist and fine craftsperson for purposes of the contract and application.

Due to limited space, you will only receive further contact if accepted after applying. However, please feel free to apply for future months if not accepted.

Once accepted, invoices are sent to the email provided on your application by the above email accepted date for the month you have selected. If you do not receive an invoice after being accepted, please contact us immediately so that we can get you the proper information before the payment deadlines in order to avoid any fees or losing your accepted space.


ARTIST APPLICATION & BINDING AGREEMENT

Applications will not be considered unless all information is filled in; online signature attached. All applicants upon signing and submission of the official Artist Application and Legal Agreement online form consent to be bound by these policies and will abide by them throughout the designated First Friday.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • All artwork must be original and personally executed by the exhibiting artist.

  • No purchased retail items such as hats or sunglasses, commercially produced kits, mass-produced items or imports.

  • No representatives. No resellers. No Distributors.

  • Ceramic work must be hand thrown or hand-built. Reproductions from originals must be signed by the artist, editions numbered, and certificates of authenticity included in each sale.

  • Some original work must be displayed along with reproductions. Any artwork or items NOT approved must be removed.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exhibitors must provide all display materials, including tent and canopy.

  • Display materials should be clean and presentable.

  • Each canopy MUST BE secured for wind with a minimum of 25lb weights PER leg of tent. (Artists must provide the proper amount and type of weights or cannot proceed with set-up)

  • All canopies on tents must be removable. Artists may be asked to remove the canopies on their tents prior to or during the show based on weather conditions. Any artist who is unable to or refuses to take off the canopy after instructed by staff members to do so will be asked to leave the event.

  • All exhibitors must remain within their allotted space. There is NO canvassing, selling, or demonstrating throughout the event streets.

PERMITTING AND TAX REQUIREMENTS:

  • ALL FIRST TIME exhibitors are responsible for paying the Nevada sales tax of 8.375% on gross sales and turning in the issued SALES TAX RETURN FORMS at the close of the show regardless of sales. Failure to do so will result in artist not being invited back. It is the artist’s responsibility to turn in the forms and tax payment to the arts coordinator. If you have been a vendor at the show more than three times, you are required by the Nevada Department of Taxation to create an account with them directly for your taxes at that point First Friday Foundation of Las Vegas will not submit your taxes for you. Please submit your NV Tax ID number on your application.

  • In order to sell any products at the event, you will be required to have a City of Las Vegas Business License Number. If you do not have one, we can provide a time limited permit to sell at the festival during our festival hours for a fee of $10. You must display this vendor tag at your booth.

ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS / RULES / REQUIREMENTS:

  • No music to be played in booth space unless previously approved by management

  • No food, candy or drinks to be sold or distributed by any other than designated food vendors.  This includes giving away samples of any such food or beverage items.

  • No “SALE” or “DISCOUNT” signs permitted.

  • **NO ELECTRIC FANS OR HEATERS ALLOWED**  Electric heaters and fans have been the cause of power outages during the event. Please do not be the reason everyone loses power. Any electric fans or heaters found will be removed immediately. Personal propane space heaters will be allowed or battery operated fans.   • Tear-down will not begin until 11pm on Friday unless otherwise authorized by the festival producer. Artist vehicles are NOT to be relocated for loading until Event Manager gives the all-clear. Striking before the show formally ends is a safety hazard, disrespectful to other artists still doing business and discouraging to continued sales. (Parking is not provided.) Artists that do not comply will be asked to move their vehicles and/or not be accepted in future events. Handicap requests must be submitted in writing.

  • Original artist / exhibitor must attend their booth and be present during the entire show. A photo ID may be required for proof of identity.

Artists may be asked to sign a “hold harmless” document when they check into show.

No refunds. There are no refunds for inclement weather or for non-compliance with event rules.

Any artists that do not comply with these rules will be asked to leave the event and may not be allowed to participate in future events.

The applicant’s (future exhibitor) digital signature will hereby release and hold harmless The First Friday Foundation, Art Coordinator, Art Jury, their employees, agents and/or representatives, Nancy Higgins, all sponsoring organizations, beneficiaries, and all employees, volunteers, or associates of the above from any and all responsibility, personal liability, claims, including but not limited to damage or loss or destruction of applicants’ property, theft, personal injury, public enemy, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, and to indemnify them for any damage arising from applicants’ or associates’ or guests’ participation in any of the First Friday events. The applicant (future exhibitor) further agrees to abide by all guidelines set forth by First Friday, written and oral, and understands that failure to do so could result in expulsion from the show. All decisions are final. First Friday’s representatives reserve the right to make final interpretation of all rules, as well as the right to disqualify any exhibitor for any reason. During certain months First Friday Foundation may run additional marketing and promotions with current sponsors of the event utilizing their resources to capture a larger demographic.  This action is  to stimulate more commerce, encouraging visitors to purchase art and become new collectors and attendees of the event.   Exhibitors wishing to participate in the event on these months, will be asked to honor special offers during these particular promotions. These promotions will not exceed a 10% discount of the artists asking price. We greatly appreciate the support of our sponsors, which allow us the ability to keep the exhibitor fees affordable and the event free to the community. Exhibitors will be notified prior to the event when First Friday runs any special promotions.
